Frequently Asked Questions

Are you accepting new clients?

Yes! Give us a call at 615-538-7111 to find an appointment time that works well for you. You are welcome to ask any questions you may have.

Do you work with Children/Teens/Couples?

No, the focus of my work is individual counseling for adults, ages 18 and older.

What modes of therapy are available?

We are available to do sessions in my office, over the phone, or video. It all depends on what your particular needs are and what you’re comfortable doing.

Do you take insurance or provide a superbill?

We are currently able to accept insurance from the following plans (as of 9/28/25):

Aetna
Ascension
Carelon Behavioral Health

Cigna and Evernorth
Quest Behavioral Health

We are also working on credentialing with Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and Optum and will keep this site updated when that changes. To book with your insurance, use this link:

Do you fill out superbills to bill out-of-network?

No. I have attempted this in the past, and the insurance companies have made it very difficult, effectively making you (the client) become a "middle-man" between them and me. I feel this is detrimental to the therapy relationship, and won't participate.

What about payments and session length?

You can pay for your sessions with the usual credit card, but counseling is also covered by  Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flex Spending Accounts (FSA). For standard individual counseling sessions, sessions are 55 minutes in length.

Can you prescribe medication?

NO, only a psychiatrist (someone with an M.D.) can prescribe medication.

Do you offer anger management classes?

No, anger management is worked on in individual counseling sessions.
